KATHMANDU – In a strategic move to strengthen its regional influence and policy framework, the SAARC Music Foundation has officially appointed the multifaceted professional Shashi Sharma Majgainya as its Chief Technical Advisor for International Diplomacy, Policy, and Research. The formal appointment took place during a high-level visit to Mr. Majgainya’s office, where the Foundation’s leadership officially handed over his appointment letter, marking a significant step toward institutionalizing cultural diplomacy across South Asia.

The delegation was led by the Foundation’s President, BP Wagle, a renowned creative director and multimedia strategist. He was joined by Vice President Bhadra Oli, Communication Manager Monica Subedi, and Press Coordinator Ishwor Bhandari. During the meeting, President BP Wagle highlighted that the appointment of Mr. Majgainya—a figure who blends legal expertise with a deep commitment to social and literary causes—will provide the Foundation with the technical roadmap necessary to navigate complex international landscapes and advocate for the protection of regional artistic assets.

Shashi Sharma Majgainya is recognized as a distinguished multidisciplinary personality with an extensive background in law, development, and social advocacy. As a registered Advocate and the founder of National Legal House, he has been a "straight-talking" and dynamic force in the legal field, particularly in the realm of copyrights and intellectual property. His portfolio as an international orator and influencer is well-established; he has been a vocal presence on global platforms, including collaborations with the WHO and Bloomberg Philanthropies, making him uniquely qualified to lead the Foundation's diplomatic and research initiatives.

In his new role as Chief Technical Advisor, Mr. Majgainya will guide the Foundation in developing data-driven research and national systems that protect the diverse musical and literary traditions of the SAARC region. His academic depth—holding degrees in Law, Political Science, English Literature, and Rural Development—complements his creative side as a celebrated lyricist and author of works like Shashi Bhitraka Shashiharu. Under his leadership, the SAARC Music Foundation aims to shift from project-based interventions to a more sustainable, policy-driven approach that defends the creative rights and cultural heritage of indigenous and marginalized artistic communities.
